The two Trinidad-and-Tobago-born members of Kindred, Omari and Akinde, were childhood friends who decided to form this duo in 1992, inspired by Bob Marley, Public Enemy, Arrested Development, the Beatles, Andre Tanker, and the Rapso music and poetry of Brother Resistance. They were out to create their own sound, something young and urban, as well as Caribbean, and ended up dubbing their style "the New Conscious Dance Music". [ more ]
